Carnaval de Málaga

If someone asked me how I would describe the Malaga Carnival, I would definitely use the words - extremely colorful, joyful, eventful and unusual costumes :) I will not lie to say that the week of the carnival fiesta makes a real impression, especially when you participate in it for the next time first.

Carnival takes place in the run-up to Lent (in 2022 between February 26 and March 6), reminding everyone that these are the last days of winter and the expectations for the next great event, which is Semana Santa .Street celebrations definitely bring the city to life, becoming vibrant and colorful again.

It is a time filled with music by bands that can be found both in the city center and "in the corners" of small streets. They sing, joke, tell anecdotes of everyday life or sing politics. Each group attracts a large audience, introducing everyone to the atmosphere of the carnival.

Certainly, more than one person will smile at the sight of sophisticated outfits and remarkably dressed children and (to my surprise) adults. Sometimes I wonder who is having a better time, or who likes dressing up more - children or their parents;)

The competitions, or rather their participants, who fight for the title of "God" and the King of Carnival with gigantic costumes are also really impressive. The winners take part in a huge, several-hour-long parade along the streets of the city. You can feel the atmosphere of a real fiesta filled with music, dancing and fun.

I recommend Carnaval de Malaga to anyone who wants to have fun and celebrate these joyful and colorful moments in true Spanish style, forgetting about the gray, long winter evenings :)
